Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Vuravoom ("we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you use our platform. We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 ("POPIA").

1. Information we collect

  • Account details — your name, email address and (if provided) cellphone number.
  • Google sign-in — if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile basics from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
  • School information — for Schools: business details, service areas, packages, and verification documents (such as ID, vehicle licence, instructor certificate and PrDP).
  • Bookings & lessons — packages booked, lesson status, confirmations, reviews and disputes.
  • Payment information — payments are processed by PayFast. We receive confirmation and transaction references, but we do not store your full card or banking details.
  • Technical data — basic logs needed to operate and secure the service.

2. How we use your information

  • to create and manage your account and sign you in;
  • to enable bookings, hold and release payments, and process payouts and refunds;
  • to verify Schools and operate reviews and disputes;
  • to send you essential service emails (such as sign-in links and booking updates);
  • to keep the Platform safe, prevent fraud and comply with the law.

3. Who we share it with

We share personal information only as needed to run the service, with:

  • Other users— Learners and Schools see the information necessary to complete a booking (for example, a School sees a Learner's name and lesson confirmations).
  • Service providers (operators) who process data on our behalf: Supabase (database, authentication and file storage), Vercel (website hosting), PayFast (payments), Resend (sending email), and Google (sign-in).
  • Authorities where required by law or to protect rights, safety and the integrity of the Platform.

We do not sell your personal information. Some providers may process data outside South Africa; where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards as required by POPIA.

4. How long we keep it

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and meet legal, accounting and tax obligations. We then delete or anonymise it.

5. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct or update it;
  • ask us to delete it, where we are not required to keep it;
  • object to certain processing; and
  • lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, access controls and holding payment card processing with our PCI-compliant payment provider. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe.

7. Cookies

We use only essential cookies needed to sign you in and keep the Platform working. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

8. Children

The Platform is intended for users aged 18 and older, or younger users with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect information from children without such consent.

9. Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified through the Platform, and the "last updated" date above will change.
